‘Honey’ was painted by Australian artist Shannon Dwyer to highlight the beauty and fragility of the Critically Endangered Regent Honeyeater using watercolour and a traditional nib and high-pigment ink.
This is an archival giclée print, individually produced by Shannon Dwyer. Each Limited Edition artwork is hand-embossed with the ‘Shannon Dwyer Artist’ authenticity seal, validating it as an authorised giclée print that conforms to archival standards. The paper is 310gsm 100% cotton rag Canson Aquarelle textured paper.
The striking Regent Honeyeater was a bird Shannon simply HAD to paint, due to its unique beauty, distinct colouring and stunning feather-patterns. Further to this, her hope was to bring to light the serious status of its current population. Listed as Critically Endangered, Regent Honeyeaters were once regular visitors as far north as QLD, but are now confined to Victoria and NSW due to widespread clearance of their habitat. Found in eucalypt forests and woodlands, they feed mainly on nectar and other plant sugars in blossoming trees and mistletoe.
